Merit Badge Events

Central Indiana Merit Badge events are class sessions at which Boy Scouts may earn one or more merit badges. The events are held in Greenfield, Indiana, which is easily reached via exit 104 of I-70. Exit 104 is 14 miles east of the I-465 bypass around Indianapolis.  Events are organized by Troop 233 of Bradley United Methodist Church.

Next Scheduled Event:

6th Annual

Central Indiana Merit Badge University

May 9-10, 2014

Planning is underway for our next event, the 6th annual Central Indiana Merit Badge University program that will be held Friday evening and Saturday, May 9-10, 2014, at the Greenfield-Central JUNIOR High School located in Greenfield, Indiana.  There will be four class sessions this year (8:00pm-10:00pm
Friday evening;   and 8:30am-noon, 1:30-5:00pm, and 6:00-9:30pm on Saturday).  Camping will be available both Friday and Saturday nights, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday.  There will be a "disaster drill" as one of the options on Friday evening in the 8:00pm-10:00pm session.  We expect to offer more than 50 different merit badges in at least 80 classes over the four sessions.

Please click HERE and then follow the directions to register your email address so that we can notify you by email when the online registration website address is available for this next event and for any of our future merit badge events.  Those registering their email address through this link will have exclusive access to the online registration for the first 10 days the registration is open.  Note:  If you have registered your email address through this link in the past year you will not have to register again, unless the email address where you wish to receive above notification has changed.  Note that registering your email address through the link does not constitute actual registration of a Scout for the event, this is only so that you will receive immediate notification when online registration for the event does open.  If you have registered your email address for previous events through this link, you do not need to do it again unless your email address has changed.

Online registration for the 2014 Merit Badge University program is scheduled to open no later than mid-March, 2014.   All those that have registered their email address and name through the above link by that date and time will have exclusive access to register their Scout for 10 days.  Be aware that we do expect classes to fill quickly, some very likely will fill in the first couple of days.

For those planning ahead to the second event we will host in 2014, the 4th Annual Central Indiana "Eagle Academy" program, is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 8,, 2014, in Greenfield, Indiana.

2012 Central Indiana MBU participants:   Photos taken of the individual Scouts at the event can be accessed HERE.  NOTE:  These are only from the MBU held in May 2012, and not the 2012 November "Eagle Academy." The photos were taken specifically to provide a nice Mother's Day gift for the Scouts to give to their mothers (since the event was on Mother's Day weekend).  Once you go to the link, click "Show All" located at the bottom center and all Scout photos will be visible.  To download a single picture, click on the desired picture, and in the top left of the image a menu icon will appear.  If you click on the menu, the bottom option will be the opportunity to download that specific picture.
We greatly appreciate the support of the Hancock County (Indiana) Tourism Commission for both the 2012 and 2013 Central Indiana Merit Badge University program.  The Commission provided funding for t-shirts for all Scouts attending the events (with the logo at left on the front of the shirts), and also funding for directional signs that were placed at key intersections in Greenfield to ensure that leaders and parents easily found their way to the multiple venues used during the event.
